At Ancient Origins Medicinals, our herbal farm is the living heart of our work. Nestled on Southern Vancouver Island, surrounded by mountains and Ocean air, the land is tended with reverence, care, and respect for the cycles of nature. Every herb we grow carries the story of the soil, the seasons, and the hands, hearts, that nurture it.

We grow a diverse array of medicinal plants using organic and regenerative practices that support both the health of the earth and the potency of the medicine.

From seed to harvest, our herbs are cultivated in nutrient-rich soil, and carefully stewarded without the use of synthetic chemicals. We never use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. Instead, we support soil health and allow the land’s natural intelligence—microbes, fungi, insects, animals, and weather—to help guide the growing process.

Each harvest is either made into fresh tincture, or slow-dried in darkness and hand-processed to preserve its full vitality, potency, and spirit.

Beyond cultivation, our farm is a sanctuary—a place where medicine, teaching, and healing come together. Here, plants are not only grown as remedies but also honored as teachers and allies. By supporting our farm, you are part of a regenerative cycle: sustaining local herbalism, keeping medicine close to its source, and helping us preserve the integrity of ancient plant wisdom for future generations.

The farm is guided by sisters Megan Waddy, Medical Herbalist, and Dr. Jenna Waddy, Naturopathic Physician, who combine clinical expertise with regenerative growing practices and a passion for locally grown, premium-quality herbs. Our apothecary was born out of a need for vibrant, effective, and ethically made remedies to support our own clinical work. Very quickly we recognized that other practitioners and community members shared this need.

In a time when high-integrity, small-batch herbal medicine can be difficult to source, we remain committed to growing, wild-harvesting, and formulating with intention, precision, and care. From our farm to our apothecary shelves, we are proud to offer some of the most potent and beautiful herbal products available—crafted in harmony with the land and held with deep reverence for the healing intelligence of plants.

As a small farm, we know where our seeds come from, how our seedlings are grown, and how much environmental impact and labor goes into each bottle of medicine. By minimizing international import and the overharvesting of at-risk plants, we protect treasured botanicals while also offering fresher, higher-quality medicines than mass-imported alternatives.

We are devoted to regenerative farming— soil ecology, biodiversity, and life-building practices. Our methods include:

  • Natural, biology-rich amendments to feed plants and microbes

  • Crop rotation and plant diversity to strengthen resilience

  • Minimal soil disturbance to protect underground ecosystems

Prayer & Spiritual Connection

We make offerings and communicate directly with the spirits of land, plant, and place. Each medicine is crafted in reverence—sung to as the plants grow, tended in alignment with the Moon and planetary bodies, and harvested in Ceremony. In this way, the medicines carry the vitality of the Earth and wisdom of the stars.

Eco-system aligned farming

The farm is managed as part of the ecosystem rather than fabricated outside of it.

Processed by hand

Harvesting and processing are done entirely by hand, ensuring high quality, minimal stem content, and a clinician’s eye for detail.

Superb soil

We prioritize soil ecology, ensuring soil free from herbicides and heavy metals, while positively buzzing with microbial life.

Impeccable drying

Herbs are dried in complete darkness and without added heat to retain vibrancy, aroma, and constituent richness.

Clinician owned

As a registered clinical herbalist and naturopathic physician with over a decade of experience, we hold all of our herbs to the same high standards we require in clinical practice.

Good agricultural & manufacturing practices (gmps)

Every step is documented, ensuring consistency, quality, and traceability from seed to finished medicine.
